MMA Odds: UFC 119 Betting Picks and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 9/24/2010
The UFC heads to a somewhat unlikely spot this week - Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The fine folks of Indiana are regularly treated to great football, but this card isn’t up to quite the same world-class caliber. The main event is a bit of a head-scratcher - there have certainly been stronger, more interesting, and more relevant matches recently. The rest of the main card in more interesting, but certainly not flashy. They aren’t going to break any pay-per-view records with this one.
MMA Odds: UFC 118 Betting Picks and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 8/27/2010
UFC 118 is a card marked by two extremes - a main event lightweight championship fight that couldn’t be more interesting, and a heavyweight tilt that couldn’t be more ridiculous. the event takes place on Saturday, Aug. 28 in Boston, and it marks the first time the UFC has appeared in Massachusetts. Here’s a look at how the main card breaks down along with my predictions for betting (all MMA UFC 118 odds are from Bodog):

It seems like forever since we have had a UFC pay-per-view. It’s actually been just over a month - UFC 116 was July 3 - but we had so many events so close together a while back that this seems like an eternity. Luckily, the wait will have been worth it because this is a very solid card that will be on display on Saturday, Aug. 7 from Oracle Arena in Oakland. Although I don’t think it was necessarily intentional, all five main-card matches feature an American fighter up against a Brazilian. Here’s a look at how the main card breaks down along with UFC odds and my picks and predictions for MMA betting:
UFC 116 Betting Odds, Picks and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 7/2/2010
The latest UFC event - the 116th - takes place on Saturday, July 3 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It’s a card with only one really compelling fight, but that one’s so good it more than makes up for the rest. Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and undefeated interim heavyweight champ Shane Carwin will meet to determine the outright Heavyweight champ. Because Fedor Emelianenko was the victim of a stunning loss last weekend this fight has extra importance - the winner will not only be the UFC champion, but also can rightly be called the best heavyweight there is.

UFC 115 Odds, Picks and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 6/10/2010
The UFC is agan opening new territory this week when it heads to Vancouver for UFC 115. The Olympic city is their first outpost in English-speaking Canada, and the response has been strong. Vancouver residents should be a bit insulted by this one, though. While their compatriots in Montreal have enjoyed one pretty good card and one that was truly epic Vancouver has been handed a bit of a dud.
UFC 114 Odds, Picks and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 5/27/2010
UFC 114, which takes place on Saturday, May 29 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, features a movie star coming home. Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson has been off in Hollywood doing a bad imitation of Mr. T for the new A-Team movie, but he's back and fighting Rashad Evans, with the winner earning the right to fight Mauricio Rua for the title. This fight is the culmination of the two fighters' time on the latest season of “The Ultimate Fighter” as coaches.
UFC 113 Odds and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 5/7/2010
The UFC returns to the hometown of its best fighter on Saturday when they visit the Bell Centre in Montreal for UFC 113. This is a card that features a little bit of everything for fight fans. Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Rua meet in a light heavyweight title fight that is a rematch of their controversial meeting at UFC 104. Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley meet in a welterweight contest with the winner getting the dubious honor of getting to, or having to, fight Georges St. Pierre next time out.
UFC 112 Odds and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 4/9/2010
UFC 112 may be the best card that we have seen in a long while, and it is certainly the most unique. It's taking place in Abu Dhabi - the first time time the UFC has headed to the Persian Gulf - and it's the first-ever outdoor event. It's also going to challenge fans who are used to the typical schedule - due to time zone issues the PPV will be shown at 1 pm EST. It will be shown again at 10 pm EST, so you can win some money off your stupid friends by betting on that one. Here's a look at how the main card shapes up, with odds from Bodog:
UFC 111 Odds and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 3/26/2010
The 111th UFC event takes place on Saturday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and it's the best card that they have had in months. For the first time in a while they have a main event that actually deserves to be a main event - one that is both thrilling and important. Here's a look at how the main card plays out (all odds are from Bodog) with my UFC 111 predictions:
UFC 110 Odds and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 2/18/2010
UFC 110 marks an attempt to conquer new land by the Ultimate Fighting Championship - for the first time they are holding an event in Australia. The event will be taking place on the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 21 in Sydney, which means that it will be on at the normal 10 p.m, EST time in North America. The card doesn't have the very biggest names on it, but I think it's actually the most interesting card we have been offered in a while. Here's a look at how the main card breaks down, with odds from Bodog:
UFC 109 Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 2/4/2010
The UFC is back in action at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on Saturday. UFC 109, cleverly known as Relentless this time around, is like a step back in time - it features a main event that could have happened 15 years ago, and likely would have been more interesting if it had. Here's a look at how that fight and the rest of the main card sets up (all odds are from Bodog):
UFC 108 Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 12/31/2009
The UFC starts off what is going to be a very busy year on Jan. 2 with UFC 108 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The name for this event is Evans vs. Silva, but the story of the event is unquestionably the injuries. This card seems to be cursed. Just look at the fighters who were announced to be a part of it before an injury forced a change - Anderson Silva, Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Shane Carwin, Gabriel Gonzaga, Tyson Griffin, Sean Sherk - it goes on and on.
UFC 107 Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 12/10/2009
The year started for the UFC with UFC 93 on Jan. 17 in Dublin when Dan Henderson beat Rich Franklin by split decision in the main event. Now we're almost at the end of the year, and we just have one event left. UFC 107 will take place on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis and will feature a main event between B.J. Penn and Diego Sanchez for the lightweight championship.
UFC 106 Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 11/20/2009
If it seems like just a couple of days since we had the last UFC event, that's because it was. UFC 106 comes just one week after UFC 105. There are a couple of bg differences, though - UFC 105 was on free TV while UFC 106 is a good old pay-per-view event, and last weekend's fights were in England while they return to the cozy confines of Las Vegas this time around.
UFC 105 Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 11/13/2009
After a bit of a break, it's time for another UFC event. UFC 105 is the first of two events to be held on consecutive weekends. This event will be headlined by the ancient but still wildly-popular Randy Couture and will take place in Manchester, England on Saturday, Nov. 14 and will be available for viewing for free on Spike TV.
UFC 104 Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 10/22/2009
After an abnormally long break, the UFC is back in action with another pay-per-view event. UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The home of the Lakers, Kings, and that other pseudo-NBA team will host a card that doesn't have a lot of top-end star power, but which should go a long way towards sorting out the pecking order in the light heavyweight division.
UFC 103 Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 9/17/2009
There are two kinds of UFC cards - those that can't get here soon enough, and those that just aren't that thrilling. UFC 100, with its three world-class headline matches, was definitely an example of the former. UFC 103, which takes place on Saturday, September 19 in Dallas, definitely falls into the latter category.
UFC 102 Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 8/26/2009
The UFC invades the Pacific Northwest for the first time with UFC 102, which takes places in Portland on Saturday. Unlike many of the UFC events this one doesn't have a catchy title. I'd suggest that they could call it 'UFC 102: The Lamest Main Event Ever'. I find it hard to get excited about the heavyweight tilt that tops the card, but there is still some intrigue, and some betting opportunities all over the card.
UFC 101 Picks and Predictions
by T.O. Whenham - 8/6/2009
UFC 101, with the always unnecessary name being 'Declaration' this time, will take place on Saturday, August 8 in Philadelphia at the Wachovia Center, the home of the Flyers and the 76ers. As is usually the case this card offers several interesting matches, and more than a few good betting opportunities. Here's a look at how it all breaks down in my eyes (all odds are from Bodog):
